Miguel Ángel Sánchez is a Spanish studio photographer spezialized in portrait photography. Co-founder of MÁSTESÓN collective.
1st Runner up of the Terry O´neill photography award 2014 and Red Dot award 2013.
For years he combined his development as an artist with his work in a commercial photography studio. In 2009 he decided to turn over completely in his creative side and opened his own photography studio in Cairo wich was the base where he worked and prepared projects developed in Egypt and beyond.
It was also the place where his itinerary projects as a nomad photographer began.Since 2009 Sánchez combines his career as a studio photographer with his work as a photojournalist and cameraman documenting conflict zones. As an itinerant photographer who takes his workspace/studio to many corners of the world: Asia, Middle East or Africa he spend the last six years covering the events of the Arab Spring, the Libyan civil war, the Ulu Pamir besieged by the PKK in Turkish Kurdistan, Lebanon after Hariri and the Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip, among others.
His work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Madrid, London, Cairo or Dubai.Sanchez’s work has been published in the International media most notably TheNew York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, El País, Guardian ...
He is author with his partner Nuria Tesón of the books: El alma del mundo (Planeta-Lunwerg), 2012, & City in Portraits (Solidere. Lebanon, 2013).
